This pilot project explores using ‘musical play’ to support families and young children through the facilitation of child-centred, accessible musical workshops within early childhood and beyond to support and promote positive attachment between parents, babies and young children and increase access to social inclusion.
A weekly musical treasure basket for parents and young children from 0-5 years
Early childhood is a really important time to provide all children with rich musical environments. This weekly group supports child-initiated play with adults as musical play partners. It is an open, inclusive, supported play session with a musical focus. Sessions take place at the ACORN CENTRE Lummaton Cross, Torquay, TQ2 8ET.
This project also provides one to one musical opportunity for young people experiencing challenges associated with managing attendance at school, school avoidance and exclusion from school, to help improve self esteem, communication & positive mental health.
